Code Notebook is a cloud-based software service for developers. This policy explains what we collect, why we need it, and how we keep your workspace private.
About the service
Code Notebook is a subscription-ready SaaS application. When you create an account, your notes, snippets, and settings are stored securely in the cloud so you can access them from the web app or the VS Code extension.
What we collect
We collect only what we need to run the product:
- Account data email address and profile details from your sign-in provider when you register or log in.
- Workspace content note titles, rich-text body, code snippets, tags, language settings, and optional AI explanations you save.
- Usage data basic logs such as sign-in events, API key creation, and feature usage needed for security and rate limits.
How we use your data
Your data is used exclusively to operate Code Notebook:
- Authenticate you and keep your account secure.
- Store, sync, and display your notes across sessions.
- Power optional features such as AI explain when you explicitly request them.
- Send essential service emails (e.g. account or security notices).
We do not use your note content for advertising, model training, or unrelated marketing.
Third-party services
Like most SaaS products, we rely on trusted infrastructure partners to deliver the service:
- Authentication secure sign-in and session management.
- Cloud hosting & database application hosting and encrypted data storage.
- AI providers only when you use AI explain; the snippet you submit is sent to generate a response.
These providers process data on our behalf under their own privacy terms and only as needed to deliver the feature.
Security & retention
We apply industry-standard safeguards including encrypted connections (HTTPS), authenticated API access, and private accounts by default. Your content is retained while your account is active. If you delete your account, we remove associated data within a reasonable period, subject to legal or backup retention requirements.
Your choices
You stay in control of your workspace:
- Edit or delete notes at any time from the app.
- Revoke public share links by turning off public access on a note.
- Revoke VS Code API keys from Settings whenever you choose.
- Contact us to request account deletion or data questions.
We don't sell your data
Code Notebook does not sell, rent, or trade your personal information or note content to third parties for marketing purposes. Your developer notes are yours we host them so the service works, not to monetize your content.
